The second weekend in September is shaping up to be a road trip worthy adventure to Southern California. The Ohana Fest has announced their dates and it is smack in the middle of the Hurley Pro in San Clemente. It’s rather an odd scheduling choice for an event that caters to a crowd who won’t show up until the last heat has been ridden – potentially 4 or 5 hours after the concerts have begun.
Scheduling aside, the line up is a solid (albeit dated) collection of surf-friendly artists and a SoCal favorites. Eddie Vedder is again headlining, supported by Ray LaMontagne, Fiona Apple and Glen Hansard on Saturday night. Friday brings Social Distortion, TV on the Radio, The Pixies and The Orwells. Sunday rounds out the weekend with the North Shore’s neighborhood troubadour, Jack Johnson.
Proceeds from the festival benefit the San Onofre Parks Foundation and the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association, so you can feel good about supporting local causes while enjoying a pretty fun lineup.
